I am in an apartment now with a back yard, sunlight, water, etc, etc, but I can’t grow in the ground because my neighbor thinks he owns the universe and doesn’t want anything in the ground but GRASS.

I may go back to Ikea and get a few more pots but I have 4 to start with and I was thinking they were big enough for Tomatoes but I’m not sure how much room Raspberries need.

Would raspberries be able to grow in pots or should I go for something “Dwarf” like a dwarf blueberry?

I’m in ‘Zone 5′, Chicago, IL

Thanks for ANY advice you can provide… I’m a noob at growing anything because I grew up in AZ, where I only got Aloe to grow, and then lived downtown Chicago where my patio was basically a Wind Tunnel, destroying anything I tried to plant.

OH! And I have a HUGE bag of poppy seeds from a local Small Grocery that are said to grow in to beautiful flowers… I’m going to spread them all around my neighborhood. Do you think they will grow?

I have two tomato plants growing on my sunny windowsill. They’re in the peak of fruiting thanks to it being so hot and sunny. They’re very happy with their daily watering (sometimes twice if it’s been really hot). My problem lies in that we’re going away for 4 days over the weekend and have no one to come in and water. The rest of the plants (herbs) will probably be okay. They don’t seem to need water as much as the tomatoes. What can I do to keep my babies alive while I’m gone? Am I SOL? Have any of you had any luck with leaving the pots in a big bowl of water or rigging up some automatic watering system?

Moving them into a less sunny location is out of the question. They’re about five feet high and totally dependent on the curtain rod they’re attached to…
I mean tomatoes. The fruit. You know, they’re round and red and you put them in salads…
